Gentle cleanings & checkups

Teeth cleaning

Professional dental cleanings are performed by a Registered Dental Hygienist. Our hygienists are trained to gently yet thoroughly clean your teeth for a brighter smile. Your cleaning appointment will include removing plaque from the surfaces of your teeth and calculus (tartar) from above and below the gum line. Your hygienist will also polish your teeth to remove stains and brighten your enamel.

Dental exam

A comprehensive dental exam will be performed by your dentist at your initial dental visit. At regular check-up exams, your dentist will check the surfaces of your teeth for decay, evaluate the condition of any fillings or crowns, and look for signs of periodontal disease or gingivitis in your gums. An oral cancer screening will also be performed.

Diagnostics

Routine X-rays can be extremely revealing when it comes to periodontal disease and other dental health concerns. X-rays show the condition of your jawbones and oral structures and also aid the dentist in identifying areas that may need future attention. They are essential for the detection of decay, tumors, cysts, and bone loss. X-rays also help determine tooth and root positions.

Cleanings

The American Dental Association recommends having your teeth cleaned every six months to achieve and maintain optimal oral health and wellness. If you need additional treatments as recommended by your dentist, our office will help you schedule your next appointment to get your needs addressed in a timely manner.

Yes, generally, preventive care such as checkups and cleanings are covered in full by your dental insurance. Many major insurance plans cover two preventive dental visits per year. While most insured families receive the majority of preventive services for free, we offer many different payment options so uninsured patients can still receive the dental care they need, and in a manner that fits their budget.

Regular preventive visits are the best way to keep your gums healthy and your teeth cavity-free. You can expect to see the dentist every six months so that our dentists can monitor any changes in your oral health and provide prompt treatment recommendations as needed.

Your preventive visit will take about an hour, giving us enough time to take care of you, and giving you enough time to ask any questions you may have about your oral health. Regular exams are offered by appointment only, so please contact our practice today to schedule your next dental exam and teeth cleaning.
